Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant

Welcome to the Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant page! PLEASE NOTE that the CPT certification exam is optional. If you choose to take this exam, you will need to complete the CPT clinical requirements as well. You can find resources relating to the clinical requirements here. Schedule a meeting with your Career Coach to develop your resume and discuss search strategies to prepare for your clinical rotation and job search.

Your CMLA clinical requirements are due one (1) year from the date you pass the exam. If you choose to sit for the CPT exam, please keep in mind that all clinical requirements must be completed within 90 days of passing the CPTexam. Be aware of holiday closures and allow up to 48 hours for documentation to be reviewed and certifications to be released. We strongly encourage you to submit your documentation as early as possible to ensure adequate time for processing.
