Pharmacy Technician III is responsible for providing technical support of pharmacy services including but not limited to distributing pharmaceuticals performing inventory control completing compliance audits and financial transactions providing customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. Performs pharmacy¿related duties in compliance with department policies and procedures and state/federal law and regulation. Arranges sequence and timing of work to meet normal and variable work requirements. Is able to function independently in all pharmacy function within the department. Serves as a subject matter expert in at least one functional area (see below) including leading process improvement and policy development related to area(s) of specialty. Is able to function as a trainer in at least one functional area. Pharmacy Technician III works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy/Pharmacy Manager or their designee. In addition to Tech II responsibilities specializes in pharmacy operations in at least one of the following (where applicable): Chemotherapy Admixtures Automated Dispensing Device Management (Automation) Controlled-Substance Accountability USP 797(IV Sterile Preparation) Pharmacy Purchasing/Inventory Management non-sterile compounding. Assists management with inspections audits reports and training to ensure compliance with standards and to provide quality service. Performs other duties as assigned.
Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred. For pharmacy intern, high school diploma and active enrollment in pharmacy school.
A minimum of 3 years previous pharmacy technician experience required, of which MUST include: a minimum of 1 year experience in IV/ chemotherapy admixture. Able to function independently in all areas of ambulatory infusion practices, including admixture, inventory management, customer service, hazardous waste management, USP requirements.
Pharmacy Technician Licensure with the State of VA required, PTCB or ExCPT required.
If Pharmacy Intern, Pharmacy Intern Licensure with the State of VA required.
